Nobody told India's vehicle owners that the fuel they fill into their vehicles had changed. One day it was petrol, the next it was E20, that is, twenty per cent ethanol, everywhere, no choice. What followed was the social media burting in fury: mileage quietly dipped, engines coughed, mechanics shrugged. People were posting pictures of rusted tanks, corroded caps, and water dripping from pumps. Companies like Toyota and Honda said, “Use it, but no guarantee.” Insurance companies washed their hands, too. However, the government described it as a “scientifically supported” reform, but their own reports acknowledged that efficiency would decline. We spoke to Shumi, a motor journalist, who clearly told us that Ethanol is the future until India is finally ready to move to EVs. But then the question is, why is India in rage?
