A priori, les substances hallucinogènes faussent la perception de la réalité. Mais se pourrait-il qu’elles révèlent plutôt des vérités? Justin Smith Ruiu est un philosophe américain qui enseigne à Paris, à l’Université Paris Cité. Dans son essai, "On Drugs: Psychedelics, Philosophy, and the Nature of Reality” (Norton, 2025), il analyse comment ses expériences passées avec ces produits psychotropes l'ont conduit à revoir radicalement la nature du réel.

Quelles questions philosophiques soulève l’expérience psychédélique? Qu’est ce que cela dit de notre perception du réel, le fait qu’elle puisse être si facilement altérée par une modification délibérée de notre chimie interne? La drogue peut-elle conduire à des vérités ?
