Elon Says SpaceX Is Go For Double Catch | Starship Update
SpaceX continues preparations for Starship Flight 15 as work wraps up at Pad 2 ahead of potential static fires for Booster 22 and Ship 42, while teams push forward on Pad 1 upgrades including orbital launch mount leg installation and flame trench progress at Starbase. This week’s update covers Booster 24 receiving its LOx landing tank and aft dome section as production accelerates, Gigabay’s first 420-ton bridge crane going in, Ship 44 getting transfer tubes, and nosecone/TPS work advancing on Ships 45 through 48. Ship 42 is also receiving Raptors again following cryo testing at Massey’s.
NASA has released an updated HLS timeline for the Artemis program covering test article builds, Cabin One, propellant transfer demos, and Cape launches, while SpaceX’s earnings call included new Flight 14 heat shield views and renders of the planned Ship catch on Flight 15.
At Massey’s, Ship 43.1 showed buckling after testing and Booster 23 completed its cryo proof as site expansion begins; McGregor saw long-duration Raptor 3 firings and confirmation that the white tent was for Tesla Roadster thruster testing rather than HLS hardware.
On the Space Coast, LC-39A continues toward operational status with chopstick and deluge testing already completed, Roberts Road received a Ship workstand and PEZ loader via barge, and a draft environmental assessment outlines major expansion plans including a new cryo and static fire site.
