Las ruinas de la antigua ciudad de Jiaohe en XinjiangLas ruinas de la ciudad de Jiaohe se encuentran en el valle de Yarnaizigou, a unos 10 kilómetros al oeste de la ciudad de Turpan, en la región autónoma uigur de Xinjiang. Están asentadas sobre una plataforma de loess con forma de hoja de sauce, de unos 30 metros de altura, situada entre dos antiguos lechos de río. Debido a que el río se divide en el extremo norte de la plataforma y converge en el extremo sur, durante la dinastía Han recibió el nombre de "Jiaohe" ("río que se une").
La ciudad fue fundada en el siglo II a.C. y fue la capital del Reino Anterior de Cheshi, uno de los treinta y seis reinos de las Regiones Occidentales de la antigüedad. Posteriormente atravesó los períodos del Reino de Gaochang y la dinastía Tang, hasta que fue abandonada progresivamente debido a los conflictos bélicos en el siglo XIV, tras una historia de unos 1.600 años. Durante la dinastía Tang, este lugar fue la sede de la Protectoría de Anxi, la máxima institución político-militar que gobernaba las Regiones Occidentales. #China #Turismo #CulturaChina #Xinjiang #hc
