Ce peuple du Nil qui a survécu à l’Empire ottoman, aux colons anglais et à la domination arabe au temps du Soudan uni est aujourd’hui partie prenante d’un conflit civil au Soudan du Sud.Assiégé dans la région de Waat par les troupes gouvernementales qui lui sont hostiles, encadré par l’armée rebelle qui le protège tout en l’entraînant vers les plus grands dangers, le peuple Nuer est une fois de plus menacé dans son existence. Les ONG ont été attaquées, elles ont déserté et partout la faim et la soif pèsent sur les dizaines de milliers de civils déplacés. Femmes et enfants sont jetés sur les chemins de l’exode, au moment où la saison des pluies transforme chaque trajet en épopée.
