GOP, Democratic lawmakers reveal stock trading ban bill | LiveNOW from FOX
We are learning more as a bipartisan group of House members reveal new legislation that would ban lawmakers from trading individual stocks. Last year, 120 members of Congress made more than 9,400 trades, according to Capitol Trades, a platform that tracks market trading by U.S. elected officials. LiveNOW’s Andy Mac has the latest from House members like Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX) and Pramila Jayapal (D-WA).Reps. Seth Magaziner (D-RI), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Tim Burchett (R-TN) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) are some of the other members who have thrown their support behind the legislation.
We have also heard that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) have both previously said they would support a ban on individual stock trading for members of Congress.
