NASA Changes Artemis Plan — Moon Landing Moves to Artemis IV | This Week In Spaceflight
Jared Isaacman just announced major changes to NASA’s Artemis program — and the Moon landing is no longer happening on Artemis III.In a surprise press conference, NASA’s Administrator revealed a new plan to standardize the SLS fleet, increase launch cadence, and split the original Artemis III objectives across multiple missions. The first lunar landing of the Artemis era will now move to Artemis IV, while Artemis III becomes a crewed lander test in low Earth orbit — similar to Apollo 9.
What does this mean for SpaceX’s Starship? Blue Origin’s lander? The Exploration Upper Stage? And could NASA adopt a Centaur V–like upper stage?
Meanwhile:
• Artemis II rolls back to the VAB over a helium flow issue
• Rocket Lab delays Neutron (again) after a tank failure
• Ship 39 rolls out for its first Version 3 cryo test at Starbase
• ISS may get extended to 2032
• Mike Fincke shares details about the Crew-11 medical event
