Calvin Verdonk Ikut Latihan Timnas Indonesia, Siap Main Lawan Irak?
Calvin Verdonk sudah bergabung dalam latihan Timnas Indonesia jelang laga persahabatan dan Kualifikasi Piala Dunia 2026 Zona Asia.Saat ini, proses naturalisasi Calvin Verdonk belumlah rampung. Bersama Jens Raven, proses naturalisasinya baru akan dibahas Komisi III dan X DPR RI pada Senin (3/6/2024).
Proses naturalisasi kedua pemain itu ditargetkan selesai sebelum laga lanjutan Kualifikasi Piala Dunia 2026 Zona Asia melawan Irak dan Filipina. Dua pertandingan itu akan berlangsung di Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno (SUGBK), Jakarta pada 6 dan 11 Juni mendatang.
Anggota Komite Eksekutif (Exco) PSSI, Sumardji mengungkapkan, Shin Tae-yong sengaja memanggil bek kiri berusia 27 tahun itu agar terjalinnya chemistry antar pemain, meski statusnya belum menjadi WNI.
"Saya perlu sampaikan bahwa hari ini Verdonk sudah ikut latihan dengan timnas," ucap Sumardji, Anggota Komite Eksekutif (Exco) PSSI
"Memang itu keinginan pak Ketum tentu atas permintaan Shin Tae-yong agar Verdonk bisa bergabung dan Alhamdulillah pagi ini sudah bergabung," lanjutnya.
"Tujuannya supaya coach Shin tau kondisi dia, dan bisa menyatu. Sambil menunggu proses naturalisasi yang sedang dilakukan federasi," tegas Sumardji.
