Freiwillige retten Almen | ARD Morgenmagazin

Sobald im Herbst die Kühe von den Almen abgetrieben werden, beginnt in den Alpen die Arbeit von vielen Freiwilligen. Sie „schwenden“ – das heißt: sie befreien Almen und Alpen von jungen Bäumen und Sträuchern. So wird verhindert, dass die Wiesen über die Zeit zum Wald werden. Das ist wichtig. Einerseits für die Almwirtschaft, damit das Vieh weiterhin auf den Bergwiesen weiden kann. Andererseits, um die Artenvielfalt zu erhalten. Eine harte Arbeit, die die Almbauern nicht allein bewältigen können. Deswegen gibt es Mitmachaktionen für Einheimische und Urlauber.

MOMA-Reporter Hans Häuser war mit dabei und hat sich mit einer Heckenschere über eine steile Almwiese gequält.
