SPACEX: Geheime Mondmission? Diese Elon Musks "Athena"-Rakete sucht nach Rohstoffen im All!Eine SpaceX-Rakete ist mit dem Mondlander „Athena“ an Bord erfolgreich ins All gestartet. Die Mission soll neue Erkenntnisse über den Erdtrabanten liefern. Entwickelt wurde der Lander von der US-Firma Intuitive Machines. Mit einer Höhe von 4,3 Metern und einem Durchmesser von 1,5 Metern ist „Athena“ darauf ausgelegt, Rohstoffe und Wasser auf der Mondoberfläche zu finden.
Sollte die Landung gelingen, wäre dies ein bedeutender Schritt für die kommerzielle Raumfahrt. Bereits 2023 hatte Intuitive Machines Geschichte geschrieben, als ihnen die erste privat finanzierte Mondlandung überhaupt gelang. An der aktuellen Mission ist auch das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) beteiligt.
Die Reise zum Mond wird rund eine Woche dauern. Frühestens am 6. März soll „Athena“ auf der Mondoberfläche aufsetzen und mit seinen Untersuchungen beginnen.
