What was YouTube like in 2007? A lot has changed! I started my YouTube channel that year, and in this English grammar lesson, I’ll use my early YouTube experiences to help you understand and practice USED TO.
You’ll learn how to use USED TO + (base verb) to talk about past states, situations, and habits that are different now.
We’ll practice:
• used to
• didn’t use to
• never used to
• Did you use to...?
You’ll also learn other useful ways to talk about past situations that have changed, including:
• once
• no longer
• not ... anymore
• back then
• initially
Then we’ll compare USED TO and WOULD and look at an important difference.
You’ll also practice the pronunciation of “used to” and learn what happens when we use “used to” without repeating the main verb.
Along the way, I’ll share some memories from my YouTube journey, including early cameras, video formats, channel types, ratings, filming without proper equipment, and other features that have changed since 2007.

Think of something you did regularly in the past but don’t do now.
Try to write it three ways:
1. I used to...
2. I no longer...
3. I don’t ... anymore.
Or try a combination:
“I used to collect stickers, but I don’t anymore.”
