Fatih Sultan Mehmed’in iktidara giden yolunda karşısına çıkan en büyük engellerden biri, Osmanlı’nın köklü ailelerinden gelen Vezir-i Azam Çandarlı Halil Paşa’ydı. Devletin en güçlü adamıydı, hatta birçok kararda padişahtan daha etkiliydi… Ta ki Fatih, İstanbul’u fethedip devletin mutlak hâkimi olana kadar. Peki ne oldu da Osmanlı tarihinde padişah emriyle idam edilen ilk sadrazam olarak tarihe geçti?Osmanlı’nın merkezî otorite krizini, ulema–devşirme çekişmesini, saray içi hizip mücadelelerini ve İstanbul’un fethine giden süreçte yaşanan gerilimleri akademik kaynaklarla anlatıyorum.
Fatih Sultan Mehmed’in genç yaşta tahta çıkışından sonra Çandarlı ailesiyle girilen iktidar mücadelesi, sadece bir güç kavgası değil; aynı zamanda Osmanlı’nın siyasal evriminde bir dönüm noktasıydı. Çandarlı Halil Paşa, gerçekten bir hain miydi? Yoksa devletin istikrarını savunan bir bürokrat mıydı?
