Ugandan Army Chief, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, is facing severe domestic and international backlash after he openly boasted on social media about the abduction and 'planned torture' of an opposition politician. Early Monday morning (June 15), military personnel reportedly scaled the fence of Erias Lukwago—a well-known opposition figure and lawyer—violently bundling him into a van. Shortly after, Kainerugaba, who is the son of long-time President Yoweri Museveni, posted photos of a bound and hooded Lukwago on X, explicitly stating he was 'proud of all the hurt and pain' he would inflict. Lukwago was targeted for attempting to legally summon the General over the 2024 abduction of another opposition leader, Kizza Besigye. Human rights groups and opposition figures, including exiled politician Bobi Wine, have fiercely condemned the regime.---
