Célèbre architecte américain du siècle dernier, John Lautner (1911-1994) a conjugué, dans ses projets, sens de la géométrie et profond respect de la nature. Élève de Frank Lloyd Wright, il construit en 1948 sa première demeure à Los Angeles, mettant en œuvre sa conception de l’architecture organique. À la fin des années 1950, il concrétise sa vision avec la spectaculaire "Silvertop", résidence futuriste dotée d’une façade en verre incurvée qui efface les frontières entre intérieur et extérieur. Achetée en 2014 par Luke Wood, l’ancien président de Beats by Dre, la villa a été rénovée par Barbara Bestor, une experte des maisons Lautner, qui y a intégré les technologies les plus avancées.
