Nonostante la percezione comune, il turismo conta meno di quanto si pensi per l'economia italiana a livello nazionale. Sebbene il nostro paese sia ricco di siti UNESCO e attiri milioni di turisti, il settore contribuisce al #PIL italiano per una misura di circa il 6%.
Una percentuale nettamente inferiore rispetto a quanto spesso viene stimato, come ad esempio il 18% dichiarato a volte dalla ministra Santanchè.
Questo valore è anche inferiore rispetto ad altri paesi: per esempio Spagna, Portogallo e Croazia, dove il turismo incide molto di più. È nettamente minore rispetto ad altri settori dell’economia italiana, che valgono circa il triplo.
La principale ragione risiede nel basso valore aggiunto del turismo, ovvero nella differenza tra quanto un bene viene venduto da un’azienda e quanto l’azienda spende per realizzarlo.
Perché succede? Perché le attività come alberghi e ristoranti hanno dei limiti di crescita fisica: non possono scalare come altri settori.
