Полвека назад знаменитый византинист Дмитрий Оболенский предложил термин Byzantine commonwealth — «Византийское содружество наций». С тех пор учёные спорят, что это такое и было ли оно вообще, предлагая другие модели, вплоть до «Византийского идеала». Поговорим о взаимоотношениях Византии и ее соседей на протяжении больше чем тысячи лет. Постараемся посмотреть на них и глазами самих византийцев, и глазами других христианских и не только христианских народов.
