Nel suo aspetto più generale, l'ordine neoliberale di cui siamo, nostro malgrado abitatori, si contraddistingue per un rapporto di forza in grazia del quale la finanza interviene senza sosta nella politica, direzionandola e orientandola secondo i propri desiderata, senza che, a propria volta, la politica possa in alcun modo intervenire nella finanza per disciplinarla e normarla, secondo quello che si potrebbe, a giusto titolo, definire il "primato del politico". Sicché quella che viene trionfalmente e pomposamente definita "democrazia" coincide oggi in toto con una plutocrazia neoliberale finanziaria a base imperialistica, nei cui spazi blindati e reificati decidono autocraticamente i mercati finanziari nel nome del loro interesse sovrano. Quei mercati finanziari che, qualora i governi osino di scostarsi dai loro imperativi, intervengono massicciamente e aggressivamente con il ricatto dello spread e con veri e propri colpi di Stato come quello subito dall'Italia nel 2011.
Fu in effetti un colpo di #Stato finanziario contro un governo, quello di Berlusconi, che pur con tutti i suoi limiti aveva una sua autonomia e non si piegava in toto ai desiderata dei mercati speculativi.
