Drones reshape Sudan war as civilian deaths rise in South Kordofan
The war in Sudan has increasingly relied on drones as it nears its fourth year, with recent fighting concentrated in the southern Kordofan region. Both the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces are deploying surveillance and strike drones, blurring traditional frontlines and expanding attacks beyond military targets. Schools, hospitals and civilian infrastructure have been struck, with the United Nations reporting more than 200 drone-related deaths this month alone and over 500 since January. The shift from urban warfare in Khartoum to drone-enabled strikes across western and southern regions has left civilians increasingly vulnerable.Al Jazeera's Hiba Morgan reports from Khartoum.
