Vegan cult murder: Death penalty sought in 'Zizians' killing case
A member of the cult-like Zizians group made her first court appearance Friday for the killing of a US border agent after prosecutors announced they would seek the death penalty.Teresa Youngblut pleaded not guilty to several charges including murder. She is accused of fatally shooting agent David Maland in Vermont on Jan. 20, the day of President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Investigators said the 21-year-old is among a group of radical computer scientists who focused on veganism, gender identity and artificial intelligence. They have been linked to at least SIX killings in THREE states across the US, according to detectives.
Known as the Zizians, the group follows Jack LaSota, a transgender woman who goes by "Ziz," attracting young computer scientists who share anarchist beliefs.
