"Neustart für Großbritannien": Labour gewinnt Parlamentswahl

Nach dem deutlichen Sieg bei der britischen Parlamentswahl wird Labour-Chef Starmer aller Voraussicht nach neuer Premier. In seiner ersten Rede verspricht er einen Wandel.

Der Machtwechsel könnte sehr schnell gehen. "Der Wandel beginnt jetzt", rief er jubelnden Anhängern zu. "Im ganzen Land werden die Menschen zu der Nachricht aufwachen, erleichtert, dass eine Last von ihren Schultern genommen wurde." Großbritannien könne nach 14 Jahren konservativer Regierung wieder nach vorn schauen. Das Land habe die Chance, "seine Zukunft zurückzubekommen".

Inzwischen steht fest, dass seine Partei die absolute Mehrheit errungen hat. Die Marke der dafür nötigen 326 Sitze wurde im Laufe der Auszählung am frühen Morgen erreicht. Nach Prognosen dürfte Labour am Ende bei 410 Mandaten landen. Die konservativen Tories von Premierminister Rishi Sunak erlitten eine schwere Niederlage und können mit 144 Sitzen rechnen - mehr als 200 weniger als bei der vorigen Wahl.
