Can you really build a useful portable air compressor from an old fire extinguisher?In this project, I decided to find out.
I took an old fire extinguisher and turned it into a compact cordless air compressor with a built-in receiver, powered by a 20V tool battery.
The goal was simple: make a compressor that is small enough to move around easily, doesn't need a power outlet, and can actually store enough compressed air to be useful.
I built the frame, installed the compressor, pressure switch, gauge, fittings and battery system, then put everything together into one compact machine.
But building it was only half the challenge.
The real question was: can this homemade cordless compressor actually work with a pneumatic tool under load?
So after the build was finished, I put it through a real-world test.
