BILD im Meteoriten-Dorf: In Koblenz gibt es nur noch ein ThemaEin spektakuläres Himmelsereignis sorgt in Westdeutschland für Aufsehen: Eine grell leuchtende Feuerkugel zieht nachts über den Himmel, hunderte Menschen beobachten das Schauspiel. Experten gehen davon aus, dass ein Meteorit in die Atmosphäre eingetreten und beim Flug zerbrochen ist. Mehrere Fragmente sollen zur Erde gestürzt sein. In Koblenz schlägt ein Brocken sogar durch das Dach eines Wohnhauses und hinterlässt ein fußballgroßes Loch im Schlafzimmer. Verletzt wird niemand. Einsatzkräfte prüfen Gebäude auch in der Eifel und im Hunsrück auf mögliche Schäden und suchen nach weiteren Bruchstücken. Dass ein Meteorit tatsächlich den Boden erreicht und ein Haus trifft, gilt als äußerst selten.
