La parte continental de China acusó al Partido Democrático Progresista de Taiwan (PDP) de vender los intereses económicos de la isla a cambio del apoyo de Estados Unidos a su causa secesionista.La portavoz de la Oficina de Asuntos de Taiwan del Consejo de Estado, Zhu Fenglian, afirmó que el PDP no ha protegido a las industrias locales ante los nuevos aranceles de Washington, que incluyen un 20 % a las importaciones de la región china de Taiwan, excepto semiconductores, y medidas para apreciar el nuevo dólar taiwanés. Criticó además los planes de invertir cientos de miles de millones de dólares en EE.
