Iran says diplomacy remains possible as mediators discuss plan to end war with US
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran remains in close contact with mediators over efforts to end the war with the United States, insisting that diplomacy still has a chance to succeed. Araghchi says Iran is reviewing proposals that could allow its seven-day plan to be implemented in less than a week. Tehran maintains that it is prepared for further confrontation while keeping diplomatic channels open. Iranian officials say the main concern is not how quickly an agreement can be reached, but whether the country's demands will be met, including an end to the wider regional war, the lifting of the naval blockade and measures addressing sanctions and frozen Iranian assets. Recent diplomatic engagements have involved Qatar, Russia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, although Tehran has disclosed few details of the discussions. Iranian officials are also seeking firm guarantees that any interim or permanent agreement will be implemented, amid continuing mistrust.Al Jazeera's Tohid Asadi reports from Tehran.
