Israels Armee hat nach eigenen Angaben mit einer Bodenoffensive in Gaza-Stadt begonnen. Die Einwohner:innen wurden erneut aufgerufen, das Gebiet zu verlassen. Panzer sollen im Einsatz sein.
Der israelische Verteidigungsminister Katz erklärte im Onlinedienst X, die Soldaten würden kämpfen, um die notwendigen Voraussetzungen für die Freilassung der Geiseln zu schaffen. Deren Angehörige äußerten große Besorgnis angesichts der möglichen Einnahme von Gaza-Stadt. Seit fast zwei Jahren kämpft die israelische Armee gegen die Terrororganisation Hamas im Gazastreifen.
