MASP Seminarios | Soto | 05.11.2025 (Español)
El Seminario Soto propone reflexionar, desde nuevas perspectivas, sobre la obra del artista venezolano Jesús Rafael Soto (1923–2005), figura central del arte cinético y del modernismo latinoamericano. Al disolver los límites rígidos entre espectador y obra e incorporar el movimiento como factor determinante en la experiencia artística, Soto contribuyó de manera decisiva a debates teóricos que siguen siendo urgentes en la actualidad, como las nociones de inmaterialidad, interacción y virtualidad.Especialistas en su obra presentarán ponencias sobre los principios conceptuales que guiaron su práctica, desde los contextos artísticos y políticos de Venezuela hasta su trayectoria en París a partir de la década de 1950. Al trazar constelaciones de referencias y proyectar sus intereses hacia el futuro —como la música y el diálogo entre materia y energía—, el seminario busca destacar la relevancia y el alcance internacional de la obra de Soto, subrayando la emergencia de centros discursivos alternativos dentro del campo artístico global.
El evento, organizado en colaboración con el Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA), forma parte de las actividades preparatorias para la exposición dedicada a Jesús Rafael Soto que tendrá lugar en 2026 en el MASP.
