Thousands of Gerer Chassidim Rally Outside Military Prison Over Arrest | עצרת הענק של אלפי חסידי גור
Thousands of Ger'rer Chasidim protesters gathered outside both a military prison in central Israel and the home of the attorney general in Tel Aviv on Monday night, angrily protesting against the recent arrest of a yeshiva student for draft dodging.Thousands took part in the protest at the Beit Lid military prison, at one point breaching the fence surrounding the army base where the prison is housed and clashing with military police at the scene.
United Torah Judaism party chief MK Yitzhak Goldknopf attended the rally, which was comprised largely of youth from the Gur Hasidic community. In an unusual move, the Gur Hasidic leader, Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh Alter, was also in attendance.
As the protest escalated, the two leaders reportedly called for calm at the scene and for the protesters to disperse. Haredi news sites reported that around 25,000 ultra-Orthodox protesters took part in the gathering after being bused in from around the country.
בפעם השנייה בתוך שבוע, התכנסו ביום שני בערב למעלה מ-25 אלף חסידי גור ברחבת כלא 10 בראשות האדמו"ר מגור, כדי למחות על מעצר תלמיד הישיבה ישראל יהודה פיין. את דבר העצרת השמיע הגאון החסיד רבי מאיר פלקסר, ראש ישיבת "חידושי הרי"מ", שנשא נאום חוצב להבות אש מול רבבות המשתתפים.
בפתח דבריו הנוקבים עמד ראש הישיבה על כך שהתורה היא מגינו הבלעדי של עם ישראל. הוא הזכיר את דברי המדרש לפיהם אומות העולם שאלו את בלעם הרשע כיצד ניתן לפגוע ביהודים, והוא השיב להם שכל עוד קולו של יעקב מצוי בבתי כנסיות ובתי מדרשות - אין ידי עשו יכולות לשלוט בהם. ראש הישיבה תמה בבכי ובזעקה כיצד ממשלת ישראל ושריה אינם מבינים את מה שהבינו אומות העולם כבר לפני אלפי שנים, והדגיש כי התורה היא ההגנה היחידה של העם.
בהמשך דבריו התייחס הגר"מ פלקסר לשמירה בעת מלחמה, והביא את פסיקת הגמרא במסכת מכות הקובעת כי לימוד התורה בשערי ירושלים הוא שגרם לרגלי הלוחמים לעמוד במערכה. הוא ציין כי בעוד עם ישראל עומד בעיצומה של מלחמה ממושכת בשבע חזיתות, וההצלחה בה היא אך ורק בזכות לימוד התורה, השלטונות בוחרים להפריע למגיני העם האמיתיים במקום לחזק אותם.
ראש הישיבה המשיל את נחיצות התורה לחמצן לנשימה, כשהוא מביא את משל הדגים הידוע של רבי עקיבא, שקבע כי הבחורים והאברכים הקדושים אינם יכולים להתקיים ללא לימוד התורה. הוא פנה לשלטונות בשאלה נוקבת האם יש אדם בעולם שיסכים שיסתמו לו את דרכי הנשימה, והבהיר כי בני הישיבות לא יוכלו לחיות ללא התורה שהיא חמצן חייהם.
עוד נשא ראש הישיבה אזהרה חסרת תקדים למבזי התורה, והזכיר את פסק ההלכה של הרמב"ם לפיו כל המבזה את חכמי התורה מאבד את חלקו לעולם הבא, והרי הוא בכלל "כי דבר ה' בזה". הוא התריע כי הרדיפה הזו תפגע בראש ובראשונה ברודפים עצמם, הן בעולם הזה והן בעולם הבא.
לקראת סיום דבריו הסביר ראש הישיבה כי ההתכנסות הלילית, ערב ימי האבל של תשעה באב, היא המשך למחאות הדורות נגד גזירות השמד, כפי שעשו יהודה בן שמוע וחבריו שהפגינו בלילה וביטלו את גזירות רומי הרשעה. הוא קרא לציבור להתחזק בקבלת התורה מחדש מתוך אהבה, כפי שהיה בימי אחשוורוש, ומתוך כך לזכות לגאולה השלמה במהרה.
