Iran warns it will leave no aggression unanswered after US strikes

Iran has denounced recent US strikes as a sign of "bad faith" and "unreliability" as negotiations continue over a possible deal to end the war. Washington says it targeted Iranian missile launch sites and mine-laying vessels as a defensive action, while Tehran calls the strikes a direct violation of the ceasefire and warns it will respond to any further aggression. Earlier, Iran's IRGC said it shot down an American drone and fired on a fighter jet after they allegedly entered Iranian airspace.
On the streets of Tehran, reactions are divided. One resident questioned whether a deal with the US can ever be trusted, while another said a temporary agreement is possible but doubted it would lead to lasting peace.
Amid rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held phone calls with the Emir of Qatar, the Sultan of Oman, and the presidents of Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Iraq and Egypt. He thanked Qatar for its "constructive support" and said expert-level efforts are underway to finalise a "dignified framework" for a potential agreement. The Emir of Qatar said his government will spare no efforts to establish peace in the region. However, Iranian officials stress that no deal is final until it is signed and ratified.
