Bundesaußenminister Johann Wadephul (CDU) ist zu einem Besuch in den nordafrikanischen Mittelmeeranrainern Tunesien und Algerien aufgebrochen. Zunächst sind in Tunis Gespräche mit seinem Kollegen Mohamed Nafti geplant sowie Treffen mit Vertretern deutscher Unternehmen im Land und tunesischer Start-ups.Nach seinem Aufenthalt in Tunesien reist Wadephul weiter nach Algerien. Auf seiner Reise wird er von einer Wirtschaftsdelegation begleitet. Die Bundesregierung sieht in Tunesien und Algerien wichtige Partner, die als Bindeglied zwischen dem europäischen und dem afrikanischen Kontinent auftreten können.
Bei dem Besuch geht es aber auch um die Stabilität und Zusammenarbeit in der Sahel-Region und das Thema der Migration aus Nordafrika. Die Bilder aus Ceuta vor einigen Wochen haben das Thema auf die Tagesordnung gebracht.
