Canada hosted the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in Niagara-on-the-Lake this week — but somehow, no one raised the issue of trade with the United States. In a one-on-one meeting with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand admitted she didn’t bring up trade.Jocelyn Bamford, founder of the Coalition of Concerned Manufacturers and Businesses of Canada, joins the show to discuss why the Carney government appears unwilling to engage Washington — and whether Ottawa’s silence reflects a deeper shift toward Beijing.
Meanwhile, Pierre Poilievre is mocking the media for turning a blind eye to dissent inside Mark Carney’s caucus. Liberal MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith publicly blasted the government’s first budget for slashing green programs and abandoning emissions targets — but rather than cover the internal dissent, legacy media looked the other way — focusing on Poilievre’s tone instead of Carney’s divided caucus.
And as public support for immigration hits record lows, Liberal MP Maninder Sidhu is sponsoring a petition calling for permanent residency for more than three million temporary residents, despite polling that shows three-quarters of Canadians want immigration reduced.
