Spesso il cinema racconta la realtà molto meglio della realtà stessa.
È su questa assenza per esempio che si accendono le luci de Il Postino. Neruda, nei suoi versi, si incaricava di dare voce a chi non ne ha. “Tento disperatamente di parlare per conto della vostra parola che non c’è: questo dice. E il film di #Troisi racconta esattamente questo. Un grande poeta in esilio su una piccola isola siciliana, negli anni Cinquanta, incontra il subalterno, il maltrattato: un pescatore semianalfabeta che ha appena cominciato a fare il postino. La prima cosa a cui pensa Mario Ruoppolo, e dovremmo scolpircelo nella testa, è che gli serve Neruda per scrivere una lettera d’amore alla donna che ama. Ma quando Neruda gli insegna a scriverla e gli spiega cosa sono le metafore, il postino comincia a prenderci gusto. Capisce che comprendere la parola, ed essere in grado di esprimersi, è un superpotere incredibile: ti permette prima di decifrare il mondo in cui vivi e poi di raccontarlo”.

Da qui discende un dovere, non un privilegio. “Non perché siamo migliori, ma perché siamo partiti da posizioni ultraprivilegiate rispetto al 99% della gente, dovremmo rispondere alle domande più elementari. Devo scrivere una lettera d’amore alla donna che amo? Devo scrivere al mio padrone perché ha fatto cose che non vanno? E da lì insegnare la bellezza della parola, perché la propria bocca smetta di essere morta. Una bocca morta è quella di chi non ha parola, di chi continuerà a essere sfruttato sempre di più”.
