A formula for progress in an imperfect world | Kathy Green | TEDxBellevueWomen
Kathy introduces the “Aim Anyway” formula—a practical framework for sparking positive change even amid uncertainty and imperfection. Through stories of local, national, and global impact, she demonstrates how courage, good character, and collaborative action can help anyone make their corner of the world safer, kinder, and better. This talk is an invitation to discover what matters, connect with others, and take meaningful steps toward a brighter future—together as neighbors. A chemist turned tech founder, Kathy Green acknowledges that while human institutions are inherently imperfect, imperfection is an opportunity to keep leveling up, not a reason to give up. With decades of experience across chemical operations, logistics, and commercial roles, she has led international product lines, rebuilt relationships after business disputes, and contributed marketing strategies to startups in China. These experiences deepened her belief in the power of learning by doing. Kathy carries that belief into her work preventing chemical delivery mistakes and into grassroots volunteering in schools, Scout troops, and water safety advocacy. Her efforts have helped protect workers and communities, build cross-sector partnerships, and mentor young people to lead with care and courage. Kathy believes the best institutions are grounded in dignity, accountability, and curiosity. That foundation allows us to move forward with thoughtful progress over elusive perfection. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
