Aerolínea boliviana trasladó millones en efectivo a Cuba durante gobierno de Arce
Una investigación oficial en Bolivia reveló que la aerolínea estatal Boliviana de Aviación (BOA) trasladó más de 11,8 millones de bolivianos en efectivo hacia La Habana durante el gobierno de Luis Arce. El viceministro de Transparencia, Yamil García, informó que estas operaciones comprometieron a la empresa en el sistema financiero internacional y provocaron el cierre de sus cuentas en el exterior por parte del Citibank en 2023, al no cumplir con los estándares internacionales.Además, la investigación determinó que la ruta aérea hacia Cuba generó pérdidas superiores a los 18 millones de bolivianos para el Estado boliviano. Como consecuencia, el gobierno presentó una denuncia ante el Ministerio Público contra seis exautoridades por presunta conducta antieconómica e incumplimiento de deberes. El escándalo reaviva preguntas sobre los vínculos financieros entre gobiernos de la región y el régimen cubano.
El análisis plantea interrogantes sobre por qué estos pagos se realizaron en efectivo en lugar de utilizar canales bancarios formales, y qué servicios recibió Bolivia a cambio. Se señalan paralelos con otros gobiernos latinoamericanos acusados de mantener relaciones financieras opacas con La Habana, incluyendo referencias al papel de la inteligencia cubana en Venezuela y a transferencias de dinero en efectivo denunciadas en otras rutas aéreas.
