US President Donald Trump announced the deployment of the US National Guard to Washington, DC. While addressing a press conference at the White House on Monday, Trump said that he was taking federal control of the Washington police department, and deploying 800 National Guard troops to fight crime in the nation’s capital. He also threatened to expand those efforts to other cities, including Chicago, if they did not deal with crime rates he claimed were “out of control.” The US President also signed an executive order, which stated that, "rising violence in the capital now urgently endangers public servants, citizens, and tourists, disrupts safe and secure transportation and the proper functioning of the Federal Government".---
