形容一個人的個性很直，我們都會說「一條腸子通到底」。意思是說，這種人講話不會拐彎抹角，想到什麼就說什麼。這樣的描述很傳神也很具象，但與事實完全不符。因為成人的腸子大概有五到七公尺長，在人體內是透過緊密的摺疊與盤繞來收納。大腦、個性再怎樣直率，腸子也還是繞來繞去。
