В 2011 году в коммуне Леобендорф, Нижняя Австрия, Marrok, участник группы Selbstentleibung (а в прошлом ещё и Panzerhass и Tulsadoom) создал сольный проект Anomalie. В нём он хотел совместить любимые элементы эмоционального блэк-метала, пост-метала и депрессивного рока и воплотить в жизнь своё личное видение честной и проникновенной музыки.
9 ноября 2012 года музыкант выложил в сеть свою первую песню - "Oxymora", которая впоследствии вошла в дебютный релиз Anomalie. 27 января 2014 года на лейбле Art Of Propaganda тиражом в 500 копий был выпущен альбом "Between The Light", включивший в себя пять собственных песен проекта и кавер-версию на Nine Inch Nails. Релиз получил немало восторженных отзывов от музыкальных критиков. Гостевое участие в записи приняли Matthias Sollak (Bifröst, Harakiri For The Sky), Michael "V. Wahntraum" (Karg, Harakiri For The Sky, Seagrave), Lukas Gosch (Aphotic Excess, Ellende) и Sophia N., а обложку нарисовал Alexander "Irrwisch" Trinkl.
11 августа 2014 года Marrok объявил о создании нового альбома. Запись производилась в Германии в студии Klangschmiede Studio E. под руководством Markus Stock (Empyrium, The Vision Bleak) и при участии басиста Thomas Dornig и ударника Lukas Schlintl (Bifröst, Selbstentleibung). Вторая работа группы, "Refugium", увидела свет 20 ноября на том же лейбле Art Of Propaganda. Обложкой вновь занимался Alexander "Irrwisch" Trinkl.
