رضا، خبرنگار آزادی، بهطور اتفاقی سرنخی از هیوا، سرباز عراقی پیدا میکند؛ مردی که سالها پیش در جریان جنگ جان او را نجات داده بود. رضا برای پاسخ به پرسشهایی که سالها در سکوت با خود حمل کرده، راهی عراق میشود تا بار دیگر با هیوا روبهرو شود. روایتی انسانی از جنگ، خاطره، بخشش و سرنوشت آدمهایی که زندگیشان برای همیشه تحت تأثیر جنگ قرار گرفته است.سالها از جنگ گذشته، اما بعضی خاطرهها هنوز تمام نشدهاند. «عاشقها ایستاده میمیرند» داستان مردی است که برای پیدا کردن حقیقتی پنهان در گذشته، به عراق بازمیگردد؛ سفری که او را دوباره مقابل سربازی قرار میدهد که زمانی جانش را نجات داده بود.
