Taiwan has warned that China’s ‘authoritarian expansionism’ in regional waters will continue unless the international community takes action. Speaking at an international security forum, a senior Taiwanese security official accused Beijing of using an ‘incremental salami-slicing’ strategy to steadily expand its influence. According to Taiwan, China employs military, coast guard, research and maritime militia vessels to reinforce its maritime claims in the East China Sea, the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea.
