Die Rettungsbretter sollten damals der Wasserrettung dienen. Nun ist ein Prototyp von vier Meter Länge dieser schwimmenden Bretter in Chemnitz aufgetaucht. Das Rettungsbrett diente dem Wasserrettungsdienst, zwei Personen konnten zu der ertrinkenden Person auf dem Schwimmbrett paddeln, sogar Wiederbelebung war darauf möglich. Der Prototyp ging aber nicht in Serie.
