Vegetationsbrand in Eppelheim: Feuerwehr verhindert Schlimmeres
Am Donnerstagmittag gegen 12 Uhr kam es im Alten Heidelberger Weg in Eppelheim zu einem Vegetationsbrand am Rande eines landwirtschaftlichen Betriebs. Aus bislang unbekannten Gründen brach dort ein Feuer aus.Da der Einsatzleiter der Feuerwehr Eppelheim bereits aus der Ferne eine schwarze Rauchsäule erkennen konnte, wurde das Alarmstichwort von F1 auf F2 erhöht. Mehrere dort gelagerte Autoreifen sowie weitere Gegenstände hatten bereits Feuer gefangen. Die Reifen dienten jedoch nicht als Abfalllagerung, sondern als Beschwerung für Vlies, das im Frühjahr für den Erdbeeranbau benötigt wird.
Besonders brenzlig wurde die Situation durch den Funkenflug, der nur wenige Meter entfernt ein Strohlager bedrohte. Durch den schnellen Löscheinsatz der Feuerwehr konnte ein Übergreifen des Feuers glücklicherweise verhindert werden.
Neben der Feuerwehr Eppelheim waren auch die Kameraden aus Plankstadt im Einsatz. Zusätzlich unterstützte ein örtlicher Baumpflegebetrieb in der Anfangsphase mit einem mobilen Wassertank, der für zusätzliches Löschwasser sorgte.
