Pakistan may reportedly deploy up to 25,000 troops to Saudi Arabia amid escalating tensions with Yemen-based Houthis. The reported move comes as Saudi Arabia prepares for a possible military offensive against the Houthis and seeks stronger defensive support from its allies.
In this video, we explain the latest Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defence developments, the reported deployment of 25,000 Pakistani troops, Pakistan's existing military presence in Saudi Arabia, and the possible role of air defence systems, rockets and drones in strengthening Saudi Arabia's defences.
The video also explains the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, signed on August 7, 2026. The agreement states that an armed attack against one of the three countries will be regarded as an attack against all three, while providing for enhanced defence cooperation.
The latest developments come as Saudi Arabia prepares for a possible offensive against the Houthis around the strategically important Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a major maritime chokepoint connecting the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Reuters reports that Pakistan has been providing defensive support, including military equipment and advisers.
We also examine the upcoming Riyadh meeting of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, the status of the Makkah Defence Pact, Pakistan's position on Saudi security, the Houthi threat, and what this could mean for West Asia, Red Sea security, maritime trade and regional geopolitics.
