Follow along with my solo on Laufey's "Seems Like Old Times"
It was my honor to record piano for two songs on Laufey's new album, "A Matter of Time," including the solo on the bonus track "Seems Like Old Times."For those unfamiliar with her music, Laufey is an Icelandic-Chinese singer and multi-instrumentalist who blends jazz, pop, bossa nova, and classical styles. I have recorded piano for all of her full-length albums, including the solos on "It Could Happen to You," "Christmas Dreaming," and this song.
In this video I recreate the piano solo that I played when we recorded this song in-studio, then discuss concepts beneath the solo that may be helpful to students of jazz or improvisation.
