Poor eyesight starts with the cones in your eye. Cones are receptors in the eye primarily used for detecting color, daylight, and fine detail. Cones have the most mitochondria-packed cells in the entire retina. Mitochondrial loss related to aging can affect vision.

As you age, you might notice the following stages of vision loss:
1. Contrast sensitivity loss
2. Need more light
3. See more glare in the dark
4. Age-related macular degeneration—can't see fine detail

Cataracts occur when the lens of the eye becomes cloudy. This is often related to diet. Glaucoma is characterized by pressure in the eyes. High doses of vitamin D3 have been found to help reverse glaucoma. Your eyes are very sensitive to blood sugar problems, which is why one of the leading causes of blindness is diabetes.

Improve your eyesight and support eye health with the following eye health tips:
1. Red light therapy
2. Regular exercise, intermittent fasting, keto, adequate sleep
3. Focus on far vision
4. Combat genetic susceptibility to poor vision with vitamin A
5. Increase lutein and zeaxanthin
6. Get your body into autophagy to eliminate floaters
7. Increase vitamin D and B3 for glaucoma
8. NAC for cataracts
9. Saffron for age-related macular degeneration
10. Use a reading light
11. Look around the sun (Sunlight hack)
12. Desk reset—take breaks from staring at a screen
13. Address dry eye with vitamin A and B1
14. Avoid advanced glycation end products
