Akdeniz'in 250 metre altındaki sır: Türkiye'den KKTC'ye su nasıl gitti?
Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nin asırlık susuzluk sorununu Türkiye-KKTC Su Temin Projesiyle bitirdi. Tordos Dağları’nın zirvelerinden süzülen kaynak suları, Mersin Anamur’daki Alaköprü Barajı’ndan başlayarak Akdeniz’in 250 metre altında asılı duran devasa boru hattıyla karşı kıyıya taşınıyor. Yıllarca siyasi ambargolar, kurutulan akiferler ve Norveçli firmaların üretimi geciktirme şantajlarıyla yüzleşilen bu süreçte; Türk mühendisler yerli üretim hamlesiyle kendi çözümünü üretip dünyada bir ilki gerçekleştirerek Akdeniz’in altına 80 kilometrelik çelikten ve polimerden bir su köprüsü inşa etti. Bu dev proje, adanın sosyo-ekonomik kaderini ve ekolojik dengesini de kökten değiştirdi. Yapım sürecindeki sıkı zaman hedeflerinden 2020 yılında yaşanan deniz altı boru kazasındaki fırtınalı müdahalelere kadar her aşaması büyük fedakârlıklara sahne oldu.Günümüzde yıllık 75 milyon metreküp suyu adaya ulaştıran bu hat sayesinde, hem adadaki evlerin çeşmelerinden kesintisiz içme suyu akıyor hem de kurumak üzere olan Güzelyurt narenciye bahçeleri ile Mesarya Ovası'ndaki on binlerce dekar tarım arazisi yeniden hayat buluyor.
