Оплески, «Яворина», трембіта. Степана Гігу поховали у Львові | Прощання з нар?
Сотні людей прийшли провести в останню путь співака, композитора, народного артиста України Степана Гігу.Чин похорону розпочався богослужінням у Гарнізонному храмі святих апостолів Петра і Павла храмі. На площі Ринок пройшло загальноміське прощання з артистом. Тут прозвучала мелодія пісні «Яворина» у виконанні сурмача.
Люди проводжали домовину з музикантом оплесками. На Личаківському цвинтарі відбулась громадська панахида.
16 листопада 1959 року співакові виповнилось 66 років. Понад 20 днів Степан Гіга перебував спершу в одному з приватних медичних закладів Львова, а звідти у дуже важкому стані його перевезли у Перше медичне об'єднання, де 12 грудня в реанімації він Гіга помер. Офіційно організатори його концертів повідомили, що співак мав ускладнення вірусної хвороби через цукровий діабет, йому ампутували ногу.
Останні роки Степан Гіга жив поблизу Львова.
Музикант випустив п'ять альбомів. У 2002 році отримав звання народного артиста України. Він ніколи не співав пісень російською мовою.
Поховали артиста на Личаківському цвинтарі.
