I dropped into a local neighborhood barbershop and experienced one of the finest traditional shaves anywhere in Central Asia!
Inside, I was welcomed by a fantastic father/son barber team keeping generational grooming traditions alive.
The father was an absolute razor master, which I think is why he stepped up to handle my shave. With decades of craftsmanship in his hands, he delivered a shave so impossibly close and smooth that it was genuinely impressive.
We shared great conversation as he effortlessly switched between English, Russian, and Uzbek, making it a deeply positive cultural exchange right in the neighborhood.
Just when I thought the experience was complete, he finished off the session with a deeply relaxing head and shoulder massage that was all included in the unbelievable price of just 40,000 Uzbekistan Som (roughly $3 USD!).
Moments like this highlight why traveling through Uzbekistan is so special. The warmth, the skill, and the genuine human connection make every street corner an adventure.
