A Argentina já foi mais rica que o Brasil e ainda é, em renda per capita, mesmo depois de décadas de crise. Neste episódio, Evandro Medeiros recebe Fábio Giambiagi, economista do BNDES desde 1984 e um dos poucos analistas que conhece os dois países por dentro, filho de argentinos e criado entre Buenos Aires e o Rio.
A conversa reconstrói 80 anos de peronismo, do primeiro Perón em 1946 até o Milei de hoje, passando pela hiperinflação, a conversibilidade de Menem, o colapso de 2001 e a herança que cada ciclo deixou para o seguinte. Giambiagi explica por que o mesmo movimento político produziu tanto a ultradireita quanto a ultraesquerda argentina, e por que o ajuste fiscal de Milei só foi possível porque o governo anterior colapsou de um jeito que o de Macri, oito anos antes, não colapsou.
No fim, ele compara os dois países no ano eleitoral brasileiro: onde o discurso de austeridade argentino tem mérito, onde exagera, e por que ele não recomenda usar a Argentina como argumento pronto, nem para quem defende o ajuste, nem para quem o ataca.
