Für die Produktion modernster KI-Chips wird Helium immer wichtiger – doch ausgerechnet dieser Rohstoff könnte knapp werden. Rund 30 Prozent des weltweiten Heliumangebots stammen aus Katar. Eine weitere Eskalation im Nahen Osten und eine mögliche Blockade der Straße von Hormus könnten deshalb zu einem Angebotsengpass führen. „Helium ist tatsächlich dieses Nebenprodukt der Erdgasförderung oder Verflüssigung von Erdgas und deswegen kann man auch keine strategischen Reserven anlegen", erklärt Michael Blumenroth im Rohstoff-Talk. Der Rohstoffanalyst der Deutschen Bank über die Bedeutung von Helium für die Chip-Industrie und die Frage, ob Anleger überhaupt in den Rohstoff investieren können: „Es gibt keinen Helium-ETF. Die beste Gelegenheit für Anleger wären wahrscheinlich Industriegase-Produzenten." Außerdem geht es um den Goldpreis, der sich trotz hoher Inflationserwartungen, steigender Anleiherenditen und höherer Ölpreise wieder erholt hat. „Vielleicht gerade weil jetzt keiner damit rechnet, könnte jetzt tatsächlich ein Ausbruch demnächst nahen."
