Unseren Flüssen und Seen geht das Wasser aus. Vielerorts fallen die Pegel in diesen Tagen auf rekordverdächtige Tiefstände. Bürgerinnen und Bürger werden seit Wochen zum Wassersparen aufgefordert. Die Entnahme aus öffentlichen Gewässern ist streng verboten. Doch zugleich steigt der Wasserbedarf der Industrie ungebremst. Die boomenden Chipfabriken werden in absehbarer Zeit fast 50 Prozent des gesamten Wassers im Großraum Dresden verbrauchen.
Für Kontroversen sorgt auch die Idee eines sogenannten "Überleiters". Mit dem Projekt soll Wasser aus der Elbe abgezapft und in die Spree gepumpt werden, um die Austrocknung des Spreewalds zu stoppen und die Trinkwasserversorgung Berlins langfristig zu sichern. Wie sinnvoll ist das? Rettet der eine Fluss den anderen? Und zu wessen Lasten?
