Mahasiswa Minta MK Hapus Ambang Batas Pilkada: Hindari Calon Tunggal Menjamur

Sidang perdana dengaan nomor perkara 90/PUU-XXIII/2025 ini berlangsung di Gedung MK, Jakarta, Rabu (4/6/2025).
Para mahasiswa berasal dari Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), dan Universiras Negeri Semarang (UNNES).
Kuasa hukum para pemohon, Gilang Muhammad Mumtaaz mengatakan alasan permohonan mereka didasari oleh rezim pemilu dan pilkada yang kini tak ada bedanya.
Tidak adanya perbedaan antara pemilu dan pilkada itu juga didasari oleh Putusan MK Nomor 55/PUU-LXX/2019, Putusan MK Nomor 85/PUU-XX/2022, dan Putusan MK Nomor 62/PUU-XII/2024 yang secara tegas telah menghapus ketentuan presidential threshold.
Para pemohon juga mengacu ihwal pendapat MK soal presidential threshold berpotensi menimbulkan polrisasi dan mengarah pada calon tunggal yang sebagaimana jamak ditemukan pada proses pilkada.
Selain itu, penerapan ambang batas bagi kepala daerah juga disebutkan oleh para pemohon telah bertentangan dengan batasan open legal policy.
